Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
While this scriptural admonition is true in the physical realm, it is certainly true in the spiritual realm as well. It is especially true in the area of prayer. Jesus said, "prayour Father who is in heaven." He said to pray"...give usforgive uslead usdeliver us." Jesus even said, "pray for those who persecute you." Paul said, "We have not ceased to pray for you." James said, "Pray for one another." Samuel said, "As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you." 1 Samuel 12:23 It has been said, "Until we realize that life is war, we will not realize what prayer is for."I believe true prayer comes from the heart of God. I believe that God gives us a heart to pray for others. I believe God puts His heart on our heart so that we sense their needs and desire to join them in their battle through prayer. Although the struggle is theirs, we can help them win the victory. At times I have sensed an urging to pray for others, and have seen them make a response to God's call. I have been led to pray for others in their struggles and sensed God give them victory.I would like to suggest a prayer adventure that will allow God to work through you.
First, ask God to give you a sense when someone around you is in a spiritual battle and needs someone (you) to come along side them and join them in their struggle through prayer.
Second, anticipate that God will answer your prayer, and be looking for someone (even someone you don't know) who seems to be in a spiritual battle. Don't be afraid you won't know how to pray, even for someone you might only see from a distance.
Third, ask God to show you how to pray for them. If God helps you to sense their need, He certainly knows what it is and the Holy Spirit will direct you in your praying.
Fourth, pray for them. If possible tell them you sense that they are in a struggle and ask them if you can pray with them. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you as you pray.
Fifth, thank God for allowing you to experience Him working through you and tell others how God is working. By Pastor Vijay
